Late 15th Century Merchants Seal Ring
We have another stunning ancient artefacts find this month from a club member.
Only this time it is silver and late 15th century. When the ring was being passed
around on the tray at our club meeting, what impressed me most, was how large
and heavy it is. Without a doubt this ring must have belonged to a person of authority.
The ring's seal device (design) is currently being investigated by Dr Elizabeth New, lecturer
and expert on seals at Aberystwyth University. Feedback so far is that no such seal design
has ever been recorded.
(The ring has been reported as Treasure in accordance with the 1996 Treasure Act)

Finder - John Rees

Coins pre-1685 Category

Henry V (1413-1422) Groat Of London Mint
Identified by the finder as a groat of Henry V.
Note: However, the two extremely feint Annulets (between three pellets at 2 o'clock and 8 o'clock)
within two quarters on the coin's Reverse . This coin is a groat of Henry VI (1422-1427) Annulet Issue,
London Mint. I cannot find any reference to Henry V groats bearing Annulets in two quarters on the Reverse.
Please correct me if I am wrong via the forum
